Prix d'Amérique Marionnaud (Group I), harness - Ready Cash : the Champion reigns supreme
Paris-Vincennes (France)
Before the event, It has been widely acknowledged that this year’s Prix d’Amerique was one of the most exciting in the last decade. It certainly didn’t fail in reality, with the course record equalled (1’12) by Ready Cash, improving his kilometric rate by sixth tenths of a second from 2011.
Having set off on the outside under the guidance of Franck Nivard, Ready Cash was then settled behind Punchy with 2,000 metres to go, then Roxane Griff. A short time beside Timoko followed in the descent, before Ready Cash let last year’s runner up Maharajah take over with 1,500 metres to go.
The titleholder then stayed behind the Orjan Kihlstrom driven entire for as long as possible. Coming into the home straight, Private Love came upsides the leading line three wide, leaving a space for Ready Cash. The son of Indy de Vive quickly mastered the situation to win easily from the fast finishing Roxane Griff in front of The Best Madrik, who ran an exceptional race.
Maharajah faded in the last 100 metres, taking fourth place in front of Timoko, who took his chance in front, and only failed in the last 200 metres.
Once more, the Prix d’Amerique called for the talent of the drivers involved, with the start playing a considerable role in the turn of events. Here, Franck Nivard, Eric Raffin and Orjan Kihlstrom showed their skill.
In 16 races for Thierry Duvaldestin, Ready Cash took his 10th success, and third Group 1 event. The seven year old is at the top of his game, and the Ourasi’s four Prix d’Ameriques could easily be equalled if his connections decide to go ahead.
