Prix Charles Tiercelin (Group II), harness - Un Amour d’Haufor, the last attacker
Paris-Vincennes (France)
In the Prix Charles Tiercelin, the last Group 2 of the Prix d’Amerique meeting, half the field was made up of international challengers, born in 2008. With the visitors not as well known to the public, the favourite for the event was Un Amour d’Haufor, second in the Criteirum des 3 ans last December.
It was a tactical affair, run at a slow pace with a succession of relays for the lead, started by Uranus de Larre, Used To Me, Un Nuage d’Osmoz, Une Lady de Nappes and Olmo Holz. The latter held the advantage into the home straight, however Un Amour d’Haufor (Love You) saved the best until last having been one of the backmarkers at the 700 metre mark. The colt came three wide to take the event for Christian Bigeon signing the last 500 metres in 1’12’’5 to beat the Italian Olmo Holz and Jos Verbeeck, whilst Une Lady de Nappes showed her old form. Used To Me, who made a fault in the home straight, was also in the reckoning, as was Uranus de Larre, trapped on the rail in the final stages.
